Fast and maneuverable the Privateer Filibustero has become a legend. One of the few privateers to succeed and thrive, the Captain of the 'Filly' as she is known in the 10 peso novelas, Don Manuel Luis Rafael Escotera has made a name for himself as a daring Aerial Buccaneer, raiding Mexican shipping during the on again, off again border war. Originally a French built Belgian designed Aeronef Cruiser, Escotera refitted her with an R-Matter engine of his own design. A man of no small personal fortune, Don Manuel has little reason to fight a war for profit, many suspect revenge or love of battle for his adventures. Many speculate, but only one man knows, and he isn't talking.

Plying the airlanes the livery of the Azul y Blanco - Sonoran Lines 'Dig is a common sight. Most of these vessels are rigged to carry a mix of cargo and passengers, but two, the S.A.S. Sandra (pictured above) and the S.A.S. Hospitalidad specialize in luxury passenger service. These 'Digs are produced at Hermosillo Skydock by the design house of Azul y Blanco - Sonoran Lines. Mining the R-Matter Deposits of the Sonoran Deserts requires specialized tools. Unlike most 'convertible' R-Matter resources, Sonora is rich in naturally occurring Repulse-Graviton bearing minerals, these ores are very bulky and need extensive processing in order to become useful to Aero-naval Power Plant constructors. After the commerce raiding and piracy that occurred during the Second Mexican War of 1886 to 1889, a new system of convoys using very large cargo vessels was proposed. The result was a licensing of a 'Dig design from Armstrong in Great Britain, originally developed at the request of the Tsar, but never begun. Famed Azul y Blanco constructor Horatio Obregon y Johnson made minor changes to accommodate local materials and facilities, and all but the first vessel was built in the Hermosillo yards. Despite being scorned in the press as "Walker's White Elephant" the large size and durable construction of these huge vessels proved the key to their ability to withstand repeated attacks by Mexican privateers, Anarchist Aerial Pirates, and others who would rob the Sonoran Republic.
